Dhokar Dalna
Ingredients:
- 200g chana
dal (split Bengal gram, soaked overnight)
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp cumin
powder
- 1/2 tsp
turmeric powder
- 1/4 tsp hing
(asafoetida)
- 1 tbsp grated
coconut
- 1 tbsp ginger
paste
- 20g roasted
peanuts, chopped
- 1 tbsp maida
(plain flour)
- 20g vegetable
oil
- 2 tbsp
mustard oil
For the gravy:
- 2 tbsp
mustard oil
- 1 onion,
chopped
- 2 tomatoes,
chopped
- 1 tsp ginger
paste
- 1 tsp garlic
paste
- 1 tsp
turmeric powder
- 1 tsp
coriander powder
- 1 tsp cumin
powder
- 1/2 tsp garam
masala
- 1/2 tsp red
chili powder
- 1/2 cup water
- Salt to taste
- Sugar to
taste
- 1 tbsp
chopped coriander leaves
Instructions:

To make the dhoka, drain the chana dal and grind it to a coarse
paste. Add the salt, sugar, cumin powder, turmeric powder, hing, coconut,
ginger paste, and roasted peanuts. Mix well.

Heat the vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the dal
mixture and cook, stirring constantly, for 5-7 minutes, or until the mixture is
dry and crumbly.

Add the maida and mix well.

Spread the mixture out on a plate and let it cool slightly.

Cut the mixture into diamond-shaped pieces.

Heat the mustard oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the dhoka
pieces and fry until golden brown on all sides.
